Al Duncan is the leading motivational speaker for at risk youth and troubled young people. An internationally recognized authority on youth development and empowerment, Al has delivered Duncan Nuggets, live and in person, to over one million young people around the world. He is frequently called upon by the media to share his expertise and he is the author of My Success Journal For Young People and Get ALL Fired Up! Al has been awarded the Presidents Call to Service Award and The National PTA Lifetime Achievement Award, for his outstanding service in the field of youth development and empowerment.
Devastated, but not defeated
Al was born and raised in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods on the planet in North Philadelphia and by today's standards, would have been labeled an at-risk student. When he was 5 years old he was molested by a male friend of the family.
Emotionally traumatized, it took him years to remember what happened. At the age of 15, Al's world was torn to shreds again when he found out that his father, his childhood hero, was addicted to crack cocaine.
Devastated, but not defeated, Al refused to allow his personal problems stop him. He went on to enjoy careers as a professional saxophone player and a professional chef. His fathers struggle and incredible recovery taught Al that failure is only permanent if you quit.
At the age of 24, he walked away from his musical career and took on the tremendous responsibility of raising his youngest brother who was 12 years old at the time.
Today, as a Cross-Generational Communication Specialist and a leading youth empowerment advocate, Al is a high energy, high content, high impact speaker, lecturer, and motivational powerhouse. Al serves on the Anti-Prejudice Consortium Board of Directors, the American InterContinental University School of Business Advisory Board, the Fulton County Workforce Investment Board of Directors, the Fulton County Youth Council, and is also the steering committee chairman and Life Skills Coach for the Butler Street YMCA's Multicultural Achievers Program. He is also the former executive producer and host of The State of the Mind Address, a self-development television program.

Hearing Al Duncan speak about his time growing up in North Philadelphia and the circumstances he had to overcome was very inspiring. He had the large student group at St. Johns University out of their seats and in-tune with his message. Mr. Duncan's passion for positively affecting students is transparent. He has an uncanny ability of captivating the audience through his mastery of analogy. Duncan delivers a must-hear message for all students, especially the at-risk youth!

Al Duncan was selected to be the closing speaker for the annual Power Over Prejudice Summit, held each year at Georgia Tech. This event trains nearly 700 middle schools students from some 70 schools each year, in how to deal with bullying, stereotyping and how to embrace differences in all individuals. His goal is to charge the students with insuring that they practice what they have learned and to carry those messages back to the rest of the student bodies. The students respond with excitment and true understanding, so much that is is difficult to get them to leave to return to their schools. Al is truly an inspriation and motivator and has contributed greatly to our organization. Thank you!

Al Duncan has that unique ability to simultaneously connect with youth and adults. An immediate kinship was formed with our youth that attended the Youth Conference. For most of our youth it was their first time ever addressing a group of people not their peers and we have no doubt that the confidence to do so came in large measure to their connection with Al Duncan. If you have youth or youth workers that you'd like to hear a motivational speaker give Al a call!

Mr. Duncan was exceptional in his customer service, accomodation and presentation. He responded quickly to my initial request; he was accomodating with respect to my audience and unconventional times, and his presentation was inspiring despite our being a very "tough crowd." You should book him if you can, as soon as you can!

Mr. Duncan, you are the greatest. Out of all the speakers I heard during my college experience, he moved me the most. Not only does he bring charisma in his speeches, but he gets his audience involved. He also writes great books, after reading "Get ALL Fired Up!†I found that you are exceptional. It was a pleasure to be in the audience to hear you. I know other students feel the same way.
Thanks

Al Duncan is a wonderful person who brings motivation to every person he comes in contact with. I first heard him speak at the Monster Diversity Leadership Conference in California where he inspired us (students) to be greater than our beliefs. He is truly passionate about the topics that he speaks on, and motivates students to strive for their dreams and believe in them daily.

I am happy to confirm that Mr. Al Duncan was everything he said he would be--energizing, entertaining, motivational, and a fabulous role model for our students. As director of the local chapter of SADD at Wayne County High School, I highly recommend him as a great speaker to students of all grade levels. Mr. Duncan tailored his presentation to the needs of our school and was an absolute joy to work with. Many students at WCHS are still talking about his presentation and asking that return again next year. Students also commented that he was the best speaker they had ever heard at our school. I highly recommend Mr. Duncan to any school system that wants to make a difference in the lives of their students.

Mr. Duncan, thank you for being the keynote speaker at the Army Reserve Southeast Regional Youth Leadership Education and Development Summit and Army Reserve Teen Panel Meeting.
You captured our teen's attention… and had them taking notes, which is no small feat considering all of the distractions today's youth have.
Your enthusiasm and engaging manner set the tone for our meeting and positively impacted the lives of those youth in attendance. Thanks again for your inspiring message.

The students of SC State really enjoyed the encouraging words of wisdom. You opened not only my eyes, but the minds of others eager for success. You really got to the bottom of the secrets of some of the greatest entrepreneurs and taught us some valuable lessons. We are going to take them and use them or success. Thanks Al Duncan for your inspiration.

Mr. Duncan, thank you so much for coming to speak to us at Youth Day!
Not only were our young people inspired, but so were the staff members in attendance.
You spoke to the youth on their level and it meant a lot to them. They were impressed by your caring and fun-loving attitude towards them. I appreciate your words of encouragement and kindness.
You are the best and most well received motivational speaker we’ve ever had. The youth expressed how much they enjoyed hearing you speak (and sing!)
Again, thank you!"

Mr. Duncan,
It was a pleasure hearing your lecture last week at St. John's University. In addition to the energy and motivation you carried throughout your lecture, I thought the content, delivery, and the ability to engage the audience was more impressive.
