I help people and organisations improve the decisions they make.
I firmly believe that our limitations are created by our own minds. My passion is to free us from these limitations. My approach helps people understand their own thinking processes. It helps them to experience new ways of thinking and develop techniques to improve their thinking. The goal is to help us select appropriate ways of thinking about situations and apply these in growing ourselves and our businesses.
Since 1996 I have been developing organisations of all types all over the world in the areas of decision making, idea generation, spotting opportunities and innovation and have written a number of books on these topics. Participants report that my presentations make a real difference because they are highly practical, thought provoking and fun.
I spend most of my working time giving presentations, running workshops, facilitating group sessions and doing consultancy work.
My formal qualifications include a B.Sc.(Hons) in Mathematics and Physics, a qualified teacher, an M.Sc. in Information Technology and an M.Sc. in Cognitive Neuroscience. My informal qualifications include being a father, being a creative entrepreneur and believing that anything is possible.

I worked with Ian to put the worksop together. His presentations were engaging, thought provoking and challenging. He fully met the brief we set him and was easy to work with. His facilitation style was engaging and patient with the ability to be flexible to suit the needs of his audience. His passion to get people thinking differently and challenge the status-quo shone through.

I am still using examples and techniques from that course over 10 years later and they are still making an impact, highly recommended

Ian is brilliant at getting you to view the things you take for granted from a totally different perspective; untapping the creative thinking potential of even the most sceptical of minds.
I find his approach very engaging and energising, if you haven't heard him speak already I highly recommend that you do.

Ian is highly original in his thinking, approach and delivery which offers great opportunity to recipients of his work. Ive seen him work with young people, business leaders and has also delivered workshops on behalf of my company to clients. He's an intellect that makes complex thoughts and processes accessible and practical for future use.
Many times across the NE region at various business events and workshops

The talk was engaging and enlightening and certainly went beyond the normal boundaries of speaking engagements.

Ian has spoken at many school events I organised to inspire learners to achieve and has been inspirational to their learning path - by delivering the 'I CAN' message and positive mental thinking.
Ian has also inspired myself to achieve anything I want, and make things interesting. He introduced the word 'stuff' into my everyday life and it is this 'stuff' that has enabled me to be an effective, creative teacher. Ian is entertaining whilst taking you along a trail of thought before throwing paradigms to make you think alternatively - he is interesting!

Ian did a group presentation for some of our clients. This was unique, low key and very beneficial. Everybody learned and also enjoyed the event. Ian does not hype things and is always questioning. He is an engaging speaker in a modest way.

You can't file Ian as "easy listening". He will challenge not only what you think, but also how you think. You will question assumptions you have held dear for years, and redefine what is possible for you.

Ian's talk was entertaining, eye opening and memorable. Ian himself has an infectious, likeable style. He's clearly passionate about his subject and it shows.

Ian is a true original with nothing reheated or borrowed from elsewhere.
I have also been able to use his ideas to produce meaningful, practical results.
