Bio

Dr. Jennifer Ashton is Board-certified OB-GYN and a graduate of Columbia University. Dr. Ashton received her post-graduate training in womens health and surgery at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident and was awarded Chief Resident of the Year upon completing her residency.

Jennifer Ashton, MD is also the author of The Body Scoop for Girls, a relatable guidebook for teenage health for parents and teens alike.

As a member of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Ashton has published articles in peer-review medical journals and presented at national clinical meetings in the fields of General Surgery, Critical Care and Gynecologic Oncology.

In 2009, Dr. Jennifer Ashton was named Medical Correspondent for CBS News Network and can be seen daily on The Early Show and regularly on The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. In this capacity, Dr. Ashton received the prestigious Alfred DuPont Award for Excellence in Journalism for her work on CBS's Children of the Recession series.

Dr. Ashton is also a regular expert guest on The Dr. Oz Show, and has appeared on PBS and The Learning Channel (TLC). From 2006-2009, Jennifer Ashton appeared on the Fox News Channel as a medical contributor and has been a featured expert guest on Oprah & Friends on satellite XM radio with Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Dr. Jennifer Ashton is on the Attending Staff of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. Her private medical practice treats women of all ages for both medical and surgical gynecologic conditions, in addition to primary care issues such as Depression, Hypertension and Obesity.

Active in many charitable organizations, Jennifer Ashton has been recognized for her philanthropic efforts by numerous foundations including the Girl Scouts, and The Octoberwoman Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness.

In January, 2010, Dr. Ashton travelled to Haiti with a medical team where she treated victims of the earthquake. During this time, Dr. Ashton also related her experiences for CBS News on their national TV broadcasts, including Face The Nation.

Dr. Jennifer Ashton received her medical degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was elected Class President for four consecutive years. Upon graduation, she was awarded the prestigious Bartlestone Award in Pharmacology.

Dr. Ashton also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation for Humanism in Medicine, which fosters the training and recognition of compassionate medical care

Jennifer Ashton has also been awarded the Policeman's Benevolent Association Medal of Honor for providing emergency medical care to injured police officers during a snow storm in February, 2008, and honored by the city of Englewood for heroic service to Haitian earthquake victims.

Dr. Ashton enjoys an athletic and active lifestyle, is a former field hockey and lacrosse player, former equestrian, former ballet dancer at NYCs School of American Ballet, and holds four SCUBA certifications.

Part of a family of 6 other physicians and one nurse, Jennifer Ashton resides in NJ with her husband, renowned Thoracic Surgeon, Dr. Robert Ashton, and their two children.
