Margo Talbot
Your Guide to Self Empowered Healing
|

Margo Talbot's inspirational presentation at Robinson's was a terrific chance to see some great ice climbing sites but more importantly was her testimony to the healing power of nature. This presentation was for everyone... whether you are a dayhiker, mountaineer, runner or dogwalker... getting out in nature and away from the clutter of everyday life has the power to reenergize, help fight depression, give challenges that bring adrenaline/seratonin as stimulants rather than drugs or alcohol. Just imagine if we got all our youth outdoors how it would change the world. Our competition in outdoor retail is not big box stores... it is electronics. For everyone who suffers from depression, addiction, mental illness... you need to hear Margo's talk and how it saved her life. For everyone who doesn't ... you need to hear Margo's talk for the excitement your life just might be missing. Thank you Margo for sharing how the outdoors and your passion for iceclimbing turned your life around.

In All That Glitters: A Climbers Journey through Addiction and Depression, world-renowned ice climber Margo Talbot shares her compelling story of healing and self-discovery amid the frozen landscapes of the planet. Rescued from the depths of drug addiction and crime by the lure of climbing frozen waterfalls, Margo rises from the brink of suicidal depression in a jail cell to being envied by a client in Antarctica for having a dream life.
There are lots of speakers who can speak on depression, on overcoming drug addiction, or on the topic of personal empowerment. There are lots of adventure speakers who can entertain us with the stories of their travels into far flung places. There are few, however, who can do all of the above; who can take us into the inner landscape of our psyches and teach us how to tap into the power that lies within each and every one of us.

As one of the conference organizers, I invited this speaker to our conference, as a voice of change and to share her inspirational message to helping professionals, who often toil without hearing the positive outcome of our work with clients. Margo Talbot spoke from her heart and read beautifully from her book "All that Glitters: A Climber's Journey through Addiction and Depression". Conference delegates were unanimously positive in their feedback - many asking to have Margo back for future keynote presentations, and noting how moved they were by her words.
