Monica L Coleman

Monica L. Coleman obtained such an affinity for words and the power they create in helping others build successful personal and professional lives that she dedicated her life to learning how to use them effectively. Her life goal is to motivate, teach and inspire others to choose and use their words wisely.

Her love for words developed after her move from Mississippi to Texas to attend college. In college, she soon learned her reading comprehension skills were not adequate to perform successfully. After divulging herself in Christian literature and reading comprehension books and activities, Coleman developed the necessary skills to complete her bachelors degree in communications with emphasis in print journalism along with a minor in business administration. Today, she is the owner of a successful media and marketing firm based in Houston, TX.

Prior to becoming a successful entrepreneur, Coleman served nearly six years in the corporate health care industry, where she worked with several C-suite executives on the successful implementation of division wide communications tools, employee relations and community relations initiatives among other responsibilities. She simultaneously enjoyed a professional freelance writing career with work published in local newspapers, niche and national magazines, newsletters, blogs and Internet radio. Her success in working with words and marketing influenced her to start her own company.

As a Leadership Advisor & Communications Coach, Coleman helps leaders hone their leadership and communications skills. She speaks, writes and trains on topics emphasizing the importance of leadership, branding with words, positive speaking, faith in the workplace, marketing and other leadership, motivational and business-related topics. She currently serves as advisory board member for both Unleashing Potential, Inc. and for Roosevelt Elementary of Houston ISD.

A socially-conscious entrepreneur, Coleman advocates and promotes literacy advancement as a certified ESL tutor and literacy partner with multiple literacy-focused organizations nationwide. Each year, she also collects new and gently used books for distribution during an annual community event in one of Houstons most impoverished communities.

She and her husband Eric, reside in Houston, TX, where they enjoy community service work, the local arts and entertainment scene and time with family and friends.
