Bio

Veronica is a professional feminist, writer and a mom.

She is assistant director of the Center for Research on Women and Gender (CRWG) at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In this role, she directs their Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program which aims to recruit, retain and advance women who are studying in science, technology, engineering and math fields. In 2011, WISE's mentoring initiatives received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring.

Veronica has worked with feminist organizations such as the Chicago Abortion Fund, Women in Media & News, Bitch Media (producers of Bitch Magazine) and Planned Parenthood in a variety of roles (fund raiser, organizer, social media, advisor, on and on).

Her writing has appeared in Bitch magazine, Ms. magazine, Alternet, NPR, Chicago Parent, the Encyclopedia of Motherhood, The Guardian, and RH Reality Check. She currently blogs at Viva la Feminista, Girl w/Pen, Chicagonista, WIMN's Voices and Care2.com.

Veronica lives in Chicago with her husband and their school aged daughter.

She has given talks about many things feminist including feminist motherhood, being a professional feminist, girls and women in science, women in media, and being a Latina and a feminist.
