Her years as a wife, mother, grandmother, writer, women's ministry leader, and registered nurse have given her a unique and varied background from which to share her experiences of life.

As a little girl growing up in South Carolina, Vonda never wanted to do little girl things. Instead of being a cheerleader, she played on the boys baseball team. Instead of running from the boys who pulled her hair, she chased them, threw them to the ground, and beat them up. Life was good.

Then she grew up and found out that girls couldn't play on the boys teams. Vonda had always dreamed of being an undercover detective, an investigative reporter, or a movie star. But the world told her that she had to become what all little girls became at that time, either a nurse, a teacher, or a secretary. It took her over 40 years to decide she was going to be what God had created her to be, a writer and speaker!

What an honor and a joy it is to share the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ in women's ministry around the country. But women's ministry isn't her only speaking arena. She loves teaching adults and students how to pen words that touch lives. She's had the privilege of teaching at writers conferences from Delaware to New Mexico and has taught her Writing is Fun! workshop to over 15,000 students in pubic and private schools.

The Bitsy Burroughs Mysteries, Vonda's three-book children's series, takes 12-year-old Bitsy from Tybee Island, Georgia to Amelia Island, Florida and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where she can't seem to stay out of trouble and always finds herself in the middle of another island mystery. Appropriate for boys and girls 8-13 years old.

As a freelance writer, Vonda's articles have appeared in Focus on the Family publications, HomeLife, Christian Single, New Man Magazine, Family Doctor Magazine, The Charlotte World newspaper, www.keepkidshealthy.com, and many others. She is honored to be the four-time winner of the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference First Place Scriptwriting Award and have several screenplays running around in her head. Perhaps one day they'll make it to paper.

A frequent instructor at writers conferences, she is an award-winning playwright and lyricist, and enjoys performing in church and community theater. Vonda is a graduate of CLASServices and Proverbs 31 Ministries. She is a member of the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association.

South Carolina is still her home. Vonda and her husband, Gary, are blessed with two beautiful daughters, two devoted sons-in-law, and four precious grandchildren who are always asking, MaMa, will you tell us another story? Life is good!
